obrů noc všem ... tuto písničku kdysi složil John pro svého syna , který se zamiloval do své spolužačky jménem Lucy .... a já miluji taky a tuto písničku posílám i Tobě moje ženo , i když už spíš , protože nad hlavou ti Tvůj klidný spánek hlídá miliony hvězd a já ...obrů noc , kvítečku z beskydských luk

It took me 47 years, but I finally figured it out about this song. You've heard the two claims: A painting by Julian; and LSD. Turns out, both are correct. It's well-known that the Beatles were into LSD at that time, so Julian must have heard those initials every now and then. But not knowing what those initials meant---he was probably protected by his recently-deceased mother Cynthia---and further inspired by his then-classmate, the late Lucy O'Donnell, he put a four-year-old's imagination to work and decided that LSD stood for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. So the song was inspired by LSD, just not directly: the letters, yes; the drug, no.

Hi, I've been ready a book on the Beatles and this is just a song about a classmate of Julian's (John's son) who came home and made a drawing with crayons called 'Lucy in the sky with diamonds'. His classmate's name was Lucy. Nice early use of a mellotron. It is a trippy song though.

They're the Beatles: they do drugs so we don't have to

the lyrics are about a LSD trip but the name of the song comes from a drawing by John Lennon's son

when a group of palaeontologists went to Ethiopia in 1974, they found a skeleton of an Australopithecus (a very early ancestor of Homo Sapiens) and nicknamed it Lucy because they were listening to this song at the time
