LYRICS:

"Her window looked out on North Church Street

An attic space overgrown

A photobook of smiling friends

Road maps, New York, Los Angeles

Her walls are Mediterranean blue

Her baby sister picked the hue

Saltwater taffy, Jersey shore

Blue like the fingernails she wore

The house is not far from the school

Her mom taught on the Hudson

Her dad's guitar sings open-tuned

Reverberates up through the floor

Our love grew more one summer there

We'd spend our days just driving round

Old parking lots and neighborhoods

Are framed and charmed in Moorestown

I followed her across the Earth

Through parks in London, coasts of Perth

Newport, Kentucky and New Orleans

We shared a million lives it seems

I slept with her so many nights

We moved together heavenly

So close the North Pacific slept

You too were once beside me

She moved away to Williamsburg

Her eyes, sad as a raven

My thoughts will pause, my throat will swell

When her name is spoken

And looking past the cold, long sea

I cannot bear to wonder now

If the cascading soft lights

Are glowing for us in Moorestown

Are glowing for us in Moorestown"

Just saw SKM last week in DC at the Miracle Theater Lucas is right it wasn't worth the 30.00 ticket Mark was pleasant but the music was some really off the wall shit that was hard to listen to for 90 minutes. The venue was good, that's about it

Just wondering, is this song about my hometown Moorestown, NJ? We do have a north church street.

Probably the best "love song" I have ever heard. Just describing the surroundings of the partner/ex partner can give a way clearer picture than just describing the person directly. The instrumentation is so fitting too, this is basically the best blend of nostalgia and melancholy I could imagine in a song. Another amazing song in Marks discography.

Probably one of my top five songs of all-time. Beautiful lyrics and it takes me to a wonderful time in my youth pining over a summer romance on our annual vacations.

Possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Heard it in a venue while waiting to see The World Is a Beautiful Place. Definitely need to dive deeper into Mark's catalog, as of now I've only heard the newer stuff.

I love this song, its amazing makes me feel reborn everytime. but I will tell you its not worth the money to waste to see a show of him. his albums are enjoyable to listen to but when I saw mark live he came across as an old grumpy prick and just raunchy. his music is beautiful but might make sense of all his longing of human contact, he might not be very good at it other than music

There is nothing more melancholy than Sun Kil Moon. Hits you like a ton of bricks

I'm writing a post-apocalyptic novel, and I love to listen to Sun Kil Moon when I write.

Hm yeah maybe there are lucky perceptions when it comes to quality, but then people have different tastes. I was wrong because those few people have their own versions of quality. It's just hard to imagine this not being good to someone else, interesting though.

who cares they miss out on our lucky perception of quality music.

Moorestown's a really nice town, but it's expensive to live here and the kids are spoiled. I wouldn't move here if I were you... But this is a great song.

God this song kills me. I nearly break down every time it comes on. Probably my favourite song of April. April was the first SKM I listened to and I've been in love with all of Kozelek's music ever since. If you like this song, I'd recommend Fragile Bones (Feels Like Home) by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray. Him and Kozelek are two of the best introspective songwriters around. So sad and dreamy and beautiful...
