This guy is such an incredible contributor to music. Not only is he in one of the greatest bands of all time, but he is an excellent producer as well. His sound is so spot on on the records he does

It's sad bands like Converge aren't more recognized today. Kurt Ballou has the ear of Rick Rubin, he is fucking GOOD. And Jacob Bannon is as much an artist as Picasso, one of those rare bands that got it right.

Take "Dr. Dre - Still Dre" and render it in a 64 kps mp3 file. It will STILL sound better than this crap. Trust me.

I can easily hear the sonics based of a 10 second audio clip. Im not intrested in the music, but im talking about the sonics only.

The audio in the intro there sounds fucking shit. No compressor can do that much damage. And its not THAT compressed anyway. Listen to Skrillex, even though his music is compressed with 20 limiters or something it still sounds better than this crap.

Why, ohh why do they use that intro then? Weird :D

Apparently it's a band called Maruta, just looked it up along with Kurt's production & recording discography and he wasn't involved with them at all.

I don't think that's even a Converge song, it's too downtuned and djenty to be them, and it's probably not anything Kurt's produced either, otherwise he wouldn't have such a prolific career. My guess is that it's some sort of filler track that Scion put in.

Im judging it from the audio in this video. Just listen to the open hihat in the beginning, it is so quiet compared to the kick and the snare, and everything else. That is just 1 example.

You're being very vague, Converge have done quite a few records. As far as I can tell, the drumkit has always sounded natural on their records, are you sure you're not just listening to shit mp3s? Because that can make a huge difference.

It sounds way too muddy, blurry, no seperations, no openness, too compressed, weird balance of the instruments (fx. it doesn't sound like a real drumkit at all)

Converge sounds bad and muffled? What planet are you on? Apart form that, your sentiment is actually correct.
