Impossible to do a bad version of this Dave CLASSIC...but this guy would be better if he wasn't trying SO hard to be a badass!! He'll never be Waylon or John Cash. Hell not even Merle, not especially one of my favorites, but he actually did hard time San Quentin style. In that context this guy is a joke.

!:of ALL the versions of this song ,Steve Earl is the WORST. I have listened to local musician's for more than 40 years, and I have never heard this song performed so bad. If you get thrown in the spotlight at least perform like you deserve it!

Just did six days on the road from Yellowknife to Ottawa in -45! This morning when I counted for the first time; I was thinking one, two, three, four, five, six..........Ive been driving for six days.......I've been on the road for six days.....six days on the road....and I'm going to be home tonight. Then I suddenly remembered this song! Sang it all the way back and got through the home stretch. Classic!Merry christmas everybody!
