Split Enz perform this famous song at a concert in Hamilton, Canada in the 1980's. It wouldn't be 1 of Margaret Thatcher's Desert Island choices.

Enthralling listening to this version, especially learning only today the track had been given no airtime help in the UK - forunately our enthusiasm back home for '6 Months...' was not held back. Its still an awesome track. Thanks for the upload.

Split Enz did not write this song about the Falklands. Musicians should stay out of politics especially the Finns. They forget their audience live in the real world. We deal with enough xxxx without being reminded of it

It tells you something that the British casualties in Afghanistan recently exceeded those in the Falklands conflict.

When Mrs Thatcher was the Prime Minister in 1982 the military junta that ruled Argentina occupied the Falkland or (Malvinas) islands. The British sent a task force to recover the islands, which they eventually did but not until at least one ship had been lost to a French built Exocet missile and a British submarine sank an Argentine cruiser (The Belgrano) as it steamed away from the area. This song was a single that Mrs Thatcher's government banned because they said it was parodying the Navy.
