John Denver's simple rendition of SILENT NIGHT - one of the most beautiful Christmas carols ever written.
Also seen in this clip are his then wife Annie, their baby son Zack, guest stars Valerie Harper, Steve Martin and Olivia Newton-John.
The Christmas special was first broadcast on network TV in 1975 and repeated in 1976. I do not believe that it has been seen since that time.

@pjblazier I got to see him a lot more than that. I think I've seen him in concert at least 6 times. I too wish he was still alive...what a pure voice and wonderful talent. That is Steve Martin in the background. He's also a great talent, and one of my favorites even today. The so called stars of today can't hold a candle to people then...they sing tinny songs out of tinny voices. So glad I was young back then and had the real thing...RIP my love, John.12 years ago

@czned - Steve Martin was a neighbor of John Denver but his TV breaks came years before this show. In the late 1960s, Steve appeared on THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS, GLEN CAMPBELL and THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW.13 years ago

FARRRRRRR OUT! I miss John. I only knew his music. Every time I am at a cowboy gathering I have to sing one of his songs... normally in a crowd of folks just start singing thank God I am a Country Boy, maybe Rockey Mountain High or Sun Shin on my Shoulder....
