just reading some of these comments, and the first version of this I heard was the original by AFire, but this version brings a whole different sensibility to the song- it goes from being about the universal longing to be with God to a more intimate piece about wanting to be with another person and can't be- both beautiful and different which is the whole pt of doing a COVER!! Not to replicate but to reinterprete

I love arcade fire, but this is one cover that I prefer ten fold over the original.

I actually really like this. The arcade fire version is totally broken hearted, as if his love is dead, but if that were the case the lyrics wouldn't quite make sense. The way she sang it, for the first time I realized that could actually be a song about the narrator wishing he could be in two places at once because he's on the road so much. It's not about longing after death, but about longing after being away for a long period of time. I like it.
