Sorry but no one can compare to the remaining Mike, Eddy and Alex Van Halen as band mates.Joe may have 12 instrumental albums under his belt but Eddy changed guitar playing for ever via 1978 Ed was winning every guitar player award in site. In only their first year, VH far eclipsed everything that Montrose & Hagar ever did.As for Chad, please!It's sad to see what happen to Sam and Van Halen and even sadder to see how DLR turned out rejoining.Roth was in VH for 12 years ('74-'85) and VH sold twice as many albums with Roth than with Hagar. (See RIAA.com).I still admire the music Van Halen made with Sammy. The tone changed when they changed the tuning playing with Sammy. Went from dark to light.How ever Roth's antics as a showman in the earlier years looked out of place 2012 and no doubt his voice wasn't the same and Ed may have found it odd to tune down.As for Chickenfoot, Sammy claims it's the greatest thing he is doing today, as usual anyone would say this in his position that is till something better comes a long like being asked to join an iconic Rock band like Van Halen.If it weren't for Van Halen, there wouldn't be a Chickenfoot.

I'm a Dave fan myself. But not a Sammy hater. Both versions of the band are awesome. You can slam a beer to, Running with the devil. And then apologize later with :When it's love.

Sammys really lost it! How in the blue hell can he compare the songs with Chickenhead to what he wrote with Van Halen? Dreams, Poundcake, Good Enough, the 7th Seal, Dont tell me, Right Now, Summer Nights-hes comparing those to bigfoot, oh yea, soap on a rope, and that crap? Wow, im glad VH finally got Diamond Dave back, at least theyre rockin again and writing great songs. I like Sammy just as much as anyone else but come on. I dont want mellow Sammy, I want the Red Rocker!!!!
