Rush - Vapor Trail. Originally from the 2002 album "Vapor Trails"; one of my favorite songs of all time. This is the remixed version released in 2013; it's truly a wonderful improvement over the disgustingly mastered original album, which I loved, regardless of its sonic sins. It's a treat to hear these songs how I've always known they could sound. Enjoy, and if you like it - buy the album!

-LYRICS-

Stratospheric traces of our transitory flight

Trails of condensation held in narrow paths of white

The sun is turning black

The world is turning gray

All the stars fade from the night

The oceans drain away

Horizon to horizon, memory written on the wind

Fading away like an hourglass, grain by grain

Swept away like voices in a hurricane

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

Atmospheric phases make the transitory last

Vaporize the memories that freeze the fading past

Silence all the songbirds

Stilled by the killing frost

Forests burn to ashes

Everything is lost

Horizon to horizon, memory written on the wind

Washed away like footprints in the rain

Swept away like voices in a hurricane

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

Washed away like footprints in the rain

Swept away like voices in a hurricane

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

In a vapor trail

This video upload does't sound anything like the CD just saying you should buy the disc before making your judgements.

I love the lack of bass at 3:48. Really cool spacey-feel.

I don't usually say anything bad about rush but this remix album is terrible I love Vapor Trails

This is an improvement in some ways, but I have two complaints: #1 the vocals are a little high in the mix for my taste, and #2 (And this one is much more serious) THEY SNIPPED THE BALLS OFF NEIL'S DRUMS OMFG.

oh yeah!....what a positive difference, Original VT is good. It just became better. The richness of the instruments jumps into your being..,,while Geddy's vocals are amplified and properly showcased. They (rush) truly are and have been a work in progress for the past 40 years always setting a milestone and then reaching beyond it. Inspiration and motivation at its best. Its what Rush is all about.

Oh my! This is a definite improvement. I may listen to the whole album again. I wonder if I can get my money back for the original CD I purchased :(

Honestly, the shitty compression of the original VT gave it a bit of character for me... It was rough-and-tumble, it was ragged, but it had a hell of a lot of emotion in it. The remix is great, you can hear so much more finesse and so much more detail... Perhaps it's because I grew up with the old VT, but some of the songs seem a little soulless.Vapor Trail seems to benefit significantly from the remix, though. Loving the little details I never noticed. :)

Definitely an improvement. The original whole album was great but definitely distorted and not as well mixed. This makes everything clear!

this sounds terrible...geddy sounds sounds like he's moaning on pain at the end....the tight concentrated sound of the original is what gives it the sonic power

Remixed: a vast improvement over the original release. There is now an audible guitar solo from 2:55 to 3:45 that is one of the emotional high points of the album.Geddy said in interviews that there were some lyrics in the first draft he just couldn't bring himself to sing, the pain expressed in them was too personal...even dialed back to their final form, the song still gives me chills. As a dad, I don't even want to imagine the suffering Neil faced in that dark period of his life, the mind refuses to go there.
