In 1961 Roger Miller was still honing his skills as a world class entertainer. After a failed release for Mercury and two for Decca between 1957 and 1959 he found himself signed to RCA Victor in 1960 for three years and six singles released in that time (plus one more after he switched to Smash records, which coincidentally was owned by Mercury records, his original label). This was his second release for RCA Victor, issued in 1961, and was an obvious sign of things to come. Just a few short years later his life would change when Dang Me would become a gigantic hit for him, setting off a string of hit records for many years. Sadly Roger is no longer around to enjoy the popularity he still has today, but thankfully this music will live forever.
