"Dudley Dorite (Of The Highway Patrol)" is from the album "Surely You Joust" and it was Ray Stevens' twenty-third studio album and his third for MCA Records. The album's front cover shows Stevens disguised as a medieval knight with a horse standing next to him. The album's back cover shows Stevens in the same costume but in a junk pile with two junk men.

Also, Ray rerecorded "Dudley Dorite (Of The Highway Patrol)" for the album of the sound track to Ray's movie, "Get Serious!" in 1995.

With this post, all of the cuts from the album "Surely You Joust" have been posted..

I will be posting more of original Ray Stevens songs, so subcribe to keep up to date.

I had just bought the tape and hadn't had a chance to listen to it before I'd gotten pulled over on Isle of Palms South Carolina.I finally put it in the tape deck after paying the ticket and this song started blaring that siren. My response was "GIVE ME A BREAK,MAN!"

That is why I love this song. It's like all the characters that he has in his songs have come to life....

You have to know several Ray Stevens songs to REALLY understand the references in this song.

Quite possibly my favorite Song. Atleast it's up there with Southern Air and The Haircut Song!

I think they need to make a box set called the "MCA Years" with all of the original albums. It would be a 7disc set, and would sell out in a heartbeat.
