The Vogues version is MUCH better! But I like the go-go girls in the background of the video.

Pet respected the Vogues' version. She is quoted as saying "let the boys have the hit."

Happy 82nd birthday today to Petula Sally Olwen Clark. She began her career at the age of nine, broadcasting over the BBC during WWII. She co-wrote this song with Tony Hatch.Petula Clark - You're The One

In Aus, Petula's version was the one that got the airplay and I still feel hers was a better version than the Vogues. Same as I preferred her "Don't Sleep in the Subway" to Sinatra's.

I am a child of the 60's and have never heard Petula sing this (that I can remember). It was always the version of the Vogues that I loved (and still do). This is wonderful though, and I wonder if they ever sang this together??

Forgot how good Petula was. She sings her own song really well, but I still prefer this song by the Vogues. More singers is better.

This was a great song recorded by the Vogues, but Petula Clark certainly does it justice. This is the first time I ever heard her sing it. Great job. No surprise there.

I did not know that she had anything to do with songwriting, and I like me some Petula Clark, I'm a big fan. I don't know how I missed that, I feel like a big dummy. I don't follow the particulars of musicians, performing artists, vocalists, etc. I just know what I like, and compile music libraries, compilations, and playlists. There's too much good stuff out there to memorize every little detail, when I can spend more time searching for the ultimate eclectic mix.
