To me it seems like a song about the concentration camps during the Holocaust. Wish he were still alive to tell us about this song. I've been researching this great man for awhile now, and besides his wonderful music I admire his standing on principle his whole life. He made mistakes and was big enough to admit when he did, unlike his critics who continue to be blind. He fought against ignorance, hatred, greed and bigotry his whole life long. One of history's great ones. RIP Pete.9 years ago

Strange, somewhat mysterious - like any great song. The schoolteacher talked about Vietnam war - because he expected from Pete only something "political". But his sorrow here is much wider - existential, God forbid me the word.9 years ago

I had the great pleasure of seeing Pete many times while in college in NYC. I particularly remember a Carnegie Hall concert on a snowy night when Pete sang "Snow"- a memory I always have cherished.
