People who understand religion will either abandon religion or use it to their advantage over and against others. There are no positive aspects in keeping faith in imaginary deities. Children manage to grow out of their belief in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. But some do not manage to grow out of the equally silly belief in "god". Why is that? Lack in brain function?

There are actually very good decent religious people that actually understand what religion is about, they don't use it to abuse other people...then there are the religious perverts that Pervert the word of God for their own selfish gain. Sadly often not realizing they are going against that which they claim to believe. So those devout decent religious people get lumped in with the perverted religious, unfairly so at that. Religious people never let anybody live their lives. They overrule the genetic altruism for an imaginary deity because they do not care about what is true but only about what superficially feels good even without understanding any of the teachings. just because you said so?...ok... Supervision is also genetic in our species. No ordinary person labels all children as 'not so good whatsoever' becuz they require supervising. Nobody assumes that all military personnel lack common decency bcuz there is supervision. those people are evil people. if one person can only be good with a supervising deity in mind, then the one is not a good person whatsoever. it is only as a criminal momentarily not doing crimes for the fear of being caught. the nice thing about humans is that altruism is genetic in our species, there is no freaking religion needed at all.
