The word talented gets thrown around way to much nowadays. It's quite hard to truly describe the brilliance in Owen. It feels magical in ways, how a person can express feelings. I can only hope to someday understand how it's all possible.

I saw him perform in a theater and it was absolutely overwhelming the way the sound surrounds you. Truly a transcendent experience to seem his construct these songs on stage. Also I just realized in this series of videos he looks a bit like Michael Phelps

i wouldn't say the live performances "rob it of its true beauty" I feel that the live performances add something else. Most of this comes from Owen having to compensate by singing with more power. So, while in the album, the asset of the singing was that it was being overwhelmed by seemingly chaotic forces, in the live performances, the asset is that the singing is being overwhelmed by the silence. So much more has to be nuanced which isn't exactly a bad thing.

this is one of my favourite songs of his, but I find that both seeing it live myself and seeing live performances rob it of its true beauty. The main issue being percussion. on the album it allows the lyrics their intensity, instead of being subdued. stil amazing though...
