This is actually kinda good. It's really stripped-down, very Nirvana in that way. If this was officially released (I can't find anything to suggest it was beyond being included in a video game), I'd probably buy it. I do like the original better only because this one sounds so much like it that I keep thinking of it as I listen to this one, but it is sort of nice to hear Kurt's doubled vocal tracks so clearly and ahead of the rest of the mix. The guitars are also very nice and naked; Kurt had a great distorted tone on *Nevermind*, and this remix actually helps to show that. If such a thing were possible, this remix actually made the original *more* raw, which I think is why they approved of it (remember also how polished the original album was; they *hated* it after the fact). I don't think this remix would have been approved if the surviving Nirvana guys didn't believe in it. Remixes these days are a dime a dozen, and mostly unofficial, so for something like this to have been approved by the guys upstairs... that's something special.
