I live in Tacoma, and I couldn't love it any more. I'm so lucky to live in a place as beautiful as here.

Tacoma in the 1980's and 90's was a dangerous place. Per capita crime capital of the United States, I think. But after 9/11, due to the military presence of Fort Lewis and McChord, things settled down. On the Hilltop, especially. I grew up in Kingsbridge, in the Bronx, but moved to Tacoma in 1991 and I gotta say... Tacoma is basically a small Bronx neighborhood. Just like Kingsbridge. I love it. And this beautiful homespun song, by the beautiful Neko Case, does the town some well-earned honor. Seattle is obviously the big bitch in britches, but the rest of Puget Sound has plenty of cow town histrionics to offer...

I appreciate the creativity here; but, Neko Case is singing about her Tacoma. She was born in 1970, long after the depression era footage shown here was shot. Moreover, it's not even Tacoma or anywhere near the Pacific Northwest.
