I like this and mainly because I am listening and I can understand everything being played which is more than I can when I listen to DT albums. In some of the fills I hear John Bonham which I like too. I can imagine playing this can almost lull one into the false hope that one could play like Mike Potnoy. This is Mike Portnoy having fun as excludes the complex polyrhythms and Cobham esque playing that one hears in DT. With regards to DT when one is able to play at the level of Portnoy and Mangini it is a moot trying to compare as it is like comparing a Ferrari and Lamborghini as both similarly brilliant in their own way. Not too many people can do what these chaps can do so sit back and enjoy the marvellous musicianship. I have many years drum lessons but I could not play like these two. They really are a bit special and for DT to have 7 players with this level of ability shows how many good drummers there are out there at the current time but having listen to the Mike Mangini audition I am sure Mike Portnoy will agree he is a worthy successor and that is all one can ask.

I'm not really into Dream Theater like that at all but he's definitely one of my favorite drummers.

Portnoy just seems like he's having fun playing here and not worrying about doing super advanced drum parts. I bet he gets tired of always mindfucking our brains with intricate drum parts that sometimes he just lays down some smooth tasty flows.

This certainly would not qualify as unbelievable even it was spelled correctly. I would be disappointed if Mike Portnoy could not pull off a solo like this at his level of skill and expertise.
