I saw Midge perform Fade to Grey live on his first solo The Gift, in 1986, I believe. Do any of you know that Midge actually wrote the song? And Visage was actually his band! So he has every right to do it his way! More guitar please.

Oh what a difference in comparison with midge ure singing the same song as steve strange(we fade to grey).they are totally different but in the same way they are both great acts in their own right.

È noto per essere stato il chitarrista dei Visage dal 1978 al 1980 ed il chitarrista e cantante degli Ultravox dal 1980 al 1987 e dal 2009 in poi. Il suo nome d'arte, Midge, non è altro che Jim letto al contrario.Ha cominciato la sua carriera nel gruppo Slik, suonando la chitarra. Dopo aver partecipato a questo progetto, è diventato membro di altri gruppi musicali: i Thin Lizzy in alcune serie di concerti, i Visage, da lui fondati insieme a Steve Strange e Billy Currie (con i quali scrisse l'hit-single Fade To Grey) ed ottenendo sempre un buon successo. Nel 1980, a seguito dell'abbandono del precedente leader e cantante, John Foxx, entra come cantante e chitarrista negli Ultravox, con i quali comporrà ed interpreterà, tra gli altri, brani di successo, come: Vienna (n. 2 in UK) e le successive Dancing With Tears In My Eyes e Hymn. Nel 1984 ha organizzato insieme a Bob Geldof la manifestazione canora Band Aid, per la quale ha scritto anche la canzone Do They Know It's Christmas? che divenne una grande hit.Rimase negli Ultravox sino al 1986, debuttando nel frattempo con un album solista nel 1985, The Gift,[2] da cui furono estratti i singoli If I Was e That Certain Smile, di discreto successo.[3][4]Negli anni a seguire compose invece la canzone Yellow Pearl, che riscosse un notevole successo e divenne anche la sigla del programma televisivo Top of the Pops. Very different version of a track from a studio band. Never a live band. Midge's roots are more in rock. This version is very good and not a total shock.
