They don't sound remotely alike.

Marvin Gaye's kids are just greedy. They are lazy and have nothing to show for their lives and contribute nothing to their fathers legacy so they spend their time bringing litigation against people when they need to get a dam job themselves

The melody line and chord progression from 0:18 to 0:51 make me think of 19th Nervous Breakdown by The Stones. They must have known "Ain't that peculiar", because it was released some months earlier.

Oh dear the comments on this video are completely worthless now. Just a bunch of 20-somethings making the same comment about how dissimilar it is to Happy.

Okay, Gaye family, if you wanna screw Pharrell into the ground, you can try your best. There is a big difference between 'ripping off' and 'possibly being inspired by'. Happy is literally one of my least favourite songs but you cannot even compare it to this, they're 2 completely different songs. Now fuck off because your fake crying after winning the Robin Thicke/Blurred Lines case didn't fool anybody. Moneygrabbing bastards.

This just proves that music form that era appeals to all ages. The new music has no soul and therefore has to sticking power like "An't That Peculiar". If your gonna take your inspiration from a great artist, give him credit.

Music is everyone's possession its only the publishers and copywriters that think that they own it.- John Lennon Playboy interview Fall 1980.

Oh come on people this is ridiculous, "Happy" does not sound like this. "Happy" might have a similar feel but that was effect he was going for.

If it's now become legitimate to sue an artist for plagiarizing the "feel" of a song, which is basically what the verdict on "blurred lines" was, then the Bob Marley estate should just start suing pretty much every reggae artist in the last 30 years or so.
