You were my friend. We met at Steinmetz High School, in 1985.You wanted to take me to lunch but I asked you to cook for me. You took me to your house and made me two cheeseburgers. Our friendship blossomed into love. You taught me how to love, you gave me so many reasons to be and to love you and I would like to think that I taught you the same and gave you at least half of what you bestowed upon me. You made a home for me when I had no place to go. You sacrificed so much for me because that's the person you were. We had great times, we had some hard times but we always loved one another. You were a blessing to me, I was up, getting ready to come visit you on 2/25/2008, when our daughter called and told me you were gone. I was so hurt, I was so angry with God. Didn't He know that we both needed each other? I couldn't say goodbye and although I attended the services I could not look at you because if I didn't look, I could tell myself that it wasn't real. We shared a friendship, love and that love produced three beautiful children between us. You allowed me to be me and I did the same, allowing you to be you. We were so young, but it was love, dear heart! I miss you, I didn't think that I could or would ever want to love again. I have given myself time to grieve the loss of you. I carry you in my heart and it is because of what we shared that I am now finally able to move forward. It was very important for me to go through the process and be honest with myself and fully accept the fact that you are gone and although I can't call or see you, I have the memories of us. I am made stronger because of my time with you. We talked about everything and before you were called home, we had a very special day together earlier that month. Even when we were angry with one another we shared the love and closeness of friends. You were my friend, father to three of my children, my love and for that, I am eternally grateful. I don't know what my future holds or if I will be blessed by God with the desires of my heart, but I am forever grateful for Him and to Him for giving us that very precious time together because some people don't get the opportunity to love and be loved.
