Respectfully, but strongly disagree Austin. Keith did sing it well but not better than Glen Campbell. He's also not the guitar player Glen was in his prime. At one time no one in the business could touch Glen's playing. God bless Glen Campbell.

No one will want to hear this, but Keith Urban actually out-sings Glen Campbell here. His version also tops the other cover versions of "Wichita Lineman" by the likes of REM and Billy Joel. The reasons Glen Miller's version of Jimmy Webb's song is so masterful, though, are the tender feeling he puts into it and the easeful way he tells the song's story. To Glen Miller, it's not a showpiece, just a song of loss and longing. Jimmy Webb's songwriting does something unusual and spectacular in "Wichita Lineman": After the tune describes a man and his job, it turns to his deep love: "I need you more than want you. And I want you for all time. And the Wichita lineman is still on the line.". At the end of a busy workday climbing telephone poles southern Kansas, our hero is "still on the line," calling his beloved in the evening time.

If you know Glen Campbell's live versions, this is pretty much unlistenable.

Tough act to follow and minus the funny sound effect, this was a really well done tribute to Glen Campbell and the song. Especially being one man with a guitar and live! Props to Keith. He's also a likable guy who in spite of the fame, hasn't gotten full of himself. Still the same humble, but upbeat person.

There's some things about Keith's voice that I like better than Glens and some that aren't as good. Hard to compare the two version since this is live and Glen' had an incredible backing orchestra with the magic of the recording studio. Would love to hear Keith but this one down permanent

Fantastic! Glen Campbell's is his own version, but Keith owns a version for himself! I LOVE it. Why are people comparing? They're not the same person. Keith crushes it!!

As good as Keith was at the CMA a few years ago,He can truly kick ass on the guitar. Fantastic cover as, one man, one guitar and no accompaniment at all.Thank you Keith, and thank you to the poster.

Imitation is the highest compliment you can make! He did it his way and he did it well. As Glen is not Keith.
