As far as lyrical skill goes I would still have Del first. I would probably have kool keith or gift second. The other two spots could easily go to doom, percee p, jeru. I feel as though I have left a couple names out though that will hit me in the head later. Oh yeah, dilated peoples is good also. and tim dog. lol

Kool keith has great knowledge of cadences on top of his complex lyric style and misinterpreted metaphors. Other contenders for this spot would be gift of gab, and maybe percee p. Other people that have a chance for my top ten would be mf doom, gangstarr, jeru the damaja. Maybe rza, gza, greydon square, pep love (old stuff) krs. Afu ra would be if he had more than body of the life force. These people are who I consider the greatest with everything taken into consideration.Check response to this.

I can't quit make a top 5 yet but I am working on it. I will say I consider Del to be the best. It's obvious he has the best understanding of music theory. his lyrics are also more consistent and his metaphors and analogies are fantastic. Check out press rewind by him for an example. Rap genius has a good analyzation of the lyrics. Kool keith my take my second spot for most skilled but a lot of his songs aren't enjoyable. check the response to this comment.

Easily top 20. I have over 50,00 hip hop albums which I have listened to multiple times and read the lyrics at the same time. I agree he isn't the best, but from me, the source that has literally covered it all, I have determined he is in the top 20 lol.

Because there is no such thing as #1, he might be your #1, But not every ones, people With a vast Hip-Hop knowledge, Hip-Hop from all over the U.S. and the WORLD, know for a fact, K is not the best at every single category an Emcee has to be to truly be called #1, because there are many different styles, too many, some so different that, it's truly hard to compare them with out favoritism or bias, + different Philosophies.
