I think Jungle Rot are keeping the early sound alive from the late 80s early 90s very much a "first wave" sound . The vocals are very much how bands had them and the drums too. Very much influenced by hardcore punk and thrash but more bands started to incorporate different vocal styles and more complex and faster riffs even being more intune with grind. To say this isnt DM is idiotic just because a lot of modern death is over the top and trying to be as "extreme" as possible.12 years ago

@GutsandGlory45 If it was metal it wouldnt suck . . . okay let me tell you this, i am not ignorant of the genre, two of my friends do nothing but talk about this genre, and i have to sit there and absorb it. I have listened to it,and i do my part and seeing were the genre is. From what i see, they are shifting to a more serious tone, only problem is taht most of the bands still dont do that, and when some bands do evolve(AOAA,and WTC are examples) they turn into death metal bands.12 years ago

@GutsandGlory45 If i dont like those bands, what makes you think i will like the ones you listed, even though i have listened to one of my friends listens to this stuff, and i dont like it. Everything about it. The guitar tones are terrible, the vocals are so forced, the drums are repetitive as all hell, the breakdowns arent heavy enough, the bass...what bass? I dont like the music, and the fact that its such a rip off metal and such a fad just annoys me more.12 years ago

@Drratburn 100% of the "Core" genres are complete bullshit...except grindcore, but thats because its good. Metal is the general term, heavy metal is the term for bands like Black Sabbath, and its funny that you say they are metalcore, because metalcore does not growl through whole entire songs. The drum tracks are very old school death metal, and thrash styled, and the guitars dont sound like an ATG album. . .13 years ago

like: Metalcore, Deathcore. POINT IS, Jungle Rot IS NOT like any 80/90s bands label'd heavy-metal. Instead, Jungle Rot's last 4 releases have same drum>R style n sound that DEFINES Metalcore. Jungle Rot list DROID as #1 influence and closest sounding band to themselves. Droid labeled themselves Groove-Metalcore, which critics do not dispute. I was gonna ignore your fucking WRONG comment when I read it on my gmail account, but as an avid fan of all musical genres, as well as a musician (drummer) who belongs to several separate bands which all have different sound/styles - I just couldn't let you get away with categorizing this band as "Death Metal". Ever since 2000, "heavy metal" became one of the more general genres (like ROCK). Hundreds of sub-genres at this point. 90% of the subgenres end in the four letters C-O-R-E, [NEXT CMNT PG13 years ago
