Charted at #4 on Billboard in March 1953. Original Billboard review: "Joni James has a potent entry that could be a solid follow-up to her "Why Don't You Believe Me". The gal sells this new weeper balled in her own wistful style, over a big choral and orchestra backing. This could break through quickly and rack up some healthy sales. Rated 86 out of 100" Single released in December 1952. A remake of "Have You Heard" by the Duprees charted at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963/1964 (and #8 Adult Contemporary).

Written by Lew Douglas, Charlie LaVere and Roy Rodde.

B-side is "Wishing Ring".

The only thing that kept me going in Korea in 1952 was the great voice of Joni James. "Why Don't You Believe Me", and  "Your Cheating Heart".  I know that song was written by Hank Williams but Joni did it with much more feeling. Jerry Calderone

There are times when I encounter a little difficulty in identifying a particular female vocalist but not with Joni James! Her voice is so unique and is so easily recognized. I saw her in person some ten years ago and could not believe that her voice was still so great.

Joni's voice is the voice of easy living ! the peaceful era. The era of hope and the golden years of the great Masters. The unforgettable time of easy listening. Thanks.

Oh yes, I was in Columbia, MO. in college when she broke out.. and Teresa Brewer...Music is not made like that any more, it is mostly gibberish that you cannot understabd and it tells no story or has the type of emotion...
