Of course that comment had not ground because it surely wasn;t hype for a famous singer to say He was a Christian - that would in fact decrease rather than increase his popularity. Only few famouse singer dared to announce their Christian faith, the few of them being Johnny Cash, Cliff Richard, and because they were already top stars, they faced a lot of criticism for singing Gospel, even from among misguided Christians.

I remember watching the Johnny Cash show everyweek on TV in Malaysia, a Muslim country. The whole family used to be glued to the television and among the many songs, I remember this song very well, and we used to sing it in church, especially my brother Rev Calvin Chelliah, who used to sing so well for us. Of course they were the critics - the so called tongue speaking Christians - who used to say that Johhny Cash was singing songs for reasons of popularity and not because He loved God.
