Here's the man who evangelized with Billy Graham and spoke for a nation confessing utter weakness and selfishness, saved only by a faith in God's forgiveness. He says, "meet me" by the train. Brings tears to my eyes every time.

I love this version, for indeed I love Cash, but it's hard to beat Waits' version.

i see

i saw him once in uk. was given a ticket had to rush to theater after work. a front row middle fantastical seat. the curtain drew up and he was standing right in front of me, all dressed in black. without even drawing breath, he said, "I'm Johnny Cash" and i nearly fell off my seat at the awesome power of that voice. he launched immediately into the first song. i feel so fortunate to have seen the man in black up so close. johnny cash you will rock my heart forever.

I saw Cash twice. Once with June Carter at the Tennessee Theatre, and his last show ever at the Carter Family Fold. I'll forget either performance. The only time I ever prayed was when June fell sick and Johnny asked for prayers for her. I haven't ever prayed again.
