Here is another song from the San Quentin Prison concert, this one written by Carl Perkins. He plays guitar and sings harmony here.

Whilst I have a rather different world view from the late great Johnny Cash, I'm nevertheless a big fan. He's the reason I first picked up a guitar in 2003. I always wanted to see live concert footage, but with good clear sound, so decided to synchronise the sound from my CD with TV footage available on Youtube. Easier said than done though... The TV footage is faster and about a whole tone higher in pitch, so I had to slow the video down to match it with the audio.

I know I'm blatantly flaunting copyright guidlines, but I reckon a few people might like this so much that they go out and buy the CD... like I did when I first heard the Man in Black on the radio!

Thank you very much. My dad was born in 1936 and always loved his country & western. Dad died 10 years ago so this stirs up some bittersweet memories. Have great Christmas and New Year's!!

I like Johnny's expression at 02:23 , right after he sings his last 'Daddy sang bass'. He looks contented with how the song has went down.

I hope that Johnny and June are singing at the throne.

He was a devout Christian, I'm atheist. Still, it doesn't stop me from appreciating his music for a second. Even the religious songs. I put that note there mainly for the benefit of my subscribers at the time I uploaded this.

In what way is your world view different to Johnny Cash's?

@richardmann184 Yeah, it's kind of nostalgic for me. This is a song I remember from way back, long before I even knew who Johnny Cash or Carl Perkins was. I'm envious of how easily he can hit those low notes!

@irreverentreverend Thanks Rev! I'm just the facilitator... I've got the CD, found the video footage and put the two together. I'm amazed no-one has done this before... that I know of. When I started buying Johnny Cash CD's in 2002 I also looked for DVD's and particularly wanted concert footage from his late 1960's to early 1970's era, but struggled to find anything. I heard that there was a documentary containing part of the concert, and that's what sparked the idea - nearly 10 years ago!

This one I would define as 'classic' country. Every one on the stage was a light bearer for traditional music. Finlarg, these are great uploads! Rev
