Lyrics:

Save some time to dream

Save some time for yourself

Don't let your time slip away

Or be stolen by somebody else

Save some time for those you love

For they'll remember what you gave

Save some time for the songs you sing

And the music that you've made

Could it be that this is all there is?

Could it be there's nothing more at all?

Save some time to dream

'Cause your dream could save us all

Save some time for sorrow

Cause it will surely come your way

Prepare yourself for failure

It will give you strength some day

Try to keep your mind open

And accept your mistakes

Save some time for living

And always question your faith

Could it be that this is all there is?

Could it be there's nothing more at all?

Save some time to dream

'Cause your dream might save us all

Cast your eyes up to heaven

Oh what does that mean to you

Try not to be too judgmental

So others will not judge you

Save some time to think

Oh before you speak your mind

Many will not understand

And to them you must to be kind

Could it be that this is all there is?

Could it be there's nothing more at all?

Save some time to dream

'Cause your dream might save us all

Oh yeah

Your dream might save us all

thanks to Brud Gann for reminding me of the under-rated genius behind 80/365. #lovesongs2015

Beautiful song, you can hear his southern Indiana twang. I'm from IN, about 30 miles from Seymour. Have went from vinyl, cassettes, CD's, mp3, with all of Mellencamps albums. His songs mean a lot to me, my nonverbal, special needs daughter sings along , she knows most of his songs. She doesn't get all the pronunciation right, but her timing and pitch are spot on. When she was young I used Johns music as motivation, reward, with her physical therapy at home. She's 25 now, and we're still singing and dancing to his great music. That's what it's all about, "if you're feeling down, and blue, just dance, dance till you're exhausted, you'll feel better". J.M. Thank you John, for your wonderful music, and making us feel better.

When John did this on Letterman....alone without backing..... the sound was haunting. His connection with life, the land and the exploitation of the Farmer is close to home. Music how it should be...............
