here's a controversial statement: I think John Mayer is equal to or better of a guitar player than Jimi Hendrix. That or the best blues guitar current. I prefer his version of Bold as Love.

Hey dig, nobody, NOBODY will ever EVER be or sound like Hendrix. So if somebody digs Hendrix and learns and plays him music, and spreads his music, then let's just call it a tribute. Brothers and sisters, RESPECT and PROPS to that player! Jimi is somewhere smilin. Peace and Love. And happiness, yeah, happiness.

I love Johns version of this song and Wind Cries Mary. He makes his own unique version of the songs that he covers instead of just playing them the same exact way. The only sad thing about it is that many people don't know that this song is a Hendrix song until they read the Continuum booklet and find out. John revived a song and made it accessible to the younger generation of kids. Its great

he did the best of he is capable and i think he is good, but where is the solo in another tune????????? The second part in the original song is the very best part of the music and he is not capable to play. such a shame!!!!!!

Your right you just don't get it I've listen to "Jimi" since the first album in 67 and your right again that Jimi's ver. will make you tear up but the point here is John does his own thing there is a large enough audience to give him his do. So lets leave it at that.

Van malmsteen. Shut the fuck up opinions are not needed. Your mom is a bitch and your dad is a drunkard retarded man. I hope your children know how to respect. And yeah you're a good guitarist sure! But does your dad know how to withdraw? I guess not, and i bet your mom doesnt like the taste of cum coz she didnt swallow you! Thats what happens if opinions that are not needed being vocalized or said to the public when no one even cares! Just like you! Nobody cares about you! See you in hell! ;) ill be there too

It sickens me to know that there are retarded, braindead idiots who would even go as far as putting Mayer in the same sentence with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix and SRV are legends and revolutionized the modern electric guitar. Mayer's technical facility is so sloppy and atrocious and absolutely unbearable to listen to or watch. That man can't even play a good lead, it's just a bunch of bum notes, also known as "clams". It's a boisterous clamfest of nuance, Mayer sucks at guitar. You've gotta have soul and technical facility to be a great guitarist and even when you play a lead with emotion, you don't have to exaggerate and look like a fucking clown like Mayer. Of any guitarist I've ever seen perform live, he has the worst stage presence. It's utter embarrassment to even hear the son of a bitch speak in that pompous, douchey demeanor of his, once he gets on stage you know it's going to be a terrible performance. As soon as he hits the first note of the guitar it just doesn't fit with the music, it's almost as if he's purposely playing in the wrong key or his guitar is out of tune. Or he needs to take more guitar lessons.Jimi and Stevie Ray must be rolling in their graves right now. Stevie Ray Vaughan was by far the most exceptionally talented blues guitarist that ever lived. He would feel embarrassed to hear Mayer perform any of his songs as they are riddled with mistakes. Joe Bonamassa could take him right out to the woodshed and Mayer has an ego the size of the universe, he wants to show off the old bluesmen like Clapton and Buddy Guy, but he's intimidated by Bonamassa's chops and stage persona.

His guitar is FAR too low and it sounds like his voice is put through some sort of pitch correction.

I liked this, they are all very talented, but I think there was way too much cymbal.
