Those lyrics cut to the bone. Saw him this year accoustic. 'There's a debt I owe, I'll never pay before I go...' Honest songwriting, emotional singing and playing. A true Master of the 'Caster.

Damn, I really tried, but this guy sucks! The Ace man steered me in the wrong direction this time...

I think maybe John Hiatt and Bob Dylan could make a good duet if they can harmonize well. What do you guys think?

I saw John and his backing band, the Combo, in Phoenix last Saturday night! One of the absolute, best performances I have ever seen! They opened with this song! Awesome!

Stick to the chord progression, the key is not the issue. find where your vocals are. If you can't tell by listening or for that matter ( by watching the video ) then you, my friend have a hard row to hoe. Bowling might be better suited for you. I don't mean to be harsh but does no one work at skills anymore. Stop expecting HANDOUTS!!!

To argue over John Hiatt is like arguing over who gets the first drink out of the river. Shut the Fuck UP!

Can't we just enjoy what John is and has been doing!...Without the crackhead musicians and the posers tearing it to shreds????????

@H0ly0uch I'm certainly not going to compare junkie street cred with you. Your 30 years obviously trumps my 10. However, even though you might not have heard the phrase used in reference to cocaine or methamphetamine, I have, and it was a commonly used term. Now, in this particular song, he could be referring to opium. He does mention china town, but he also mentions cocaine. Either way, it is still a good song, and we are arguing semantics.

@tristhan1181 I'm not sure where you're from, or when, but I'm almost 50 and in the late 70's, 80's and on into the 90's I snorted, and smoked, many an 8ball of coke. I can freebase coke with ammonia or baking soda and have NEVER heard of that (freebasing coke) being referred to as chasing the dragon down. The Cptn dude is right. "chasing the dragon" has always referred to opium because it was such a popular drug in china for so many centuries. Awesome song, album and artist BTW

@CptnBlues Chasing the dragon is a way to describe freebasing. You chase the smoke as crack, cocaine, meth burn.
