I have no prior experience in Musical Theory, so I cannot comment on that aspect of Music, but in Music Theory I can see how Maths can be utilised to create Music. However, as I've said previously because Music is an art that's open to interpretation, its meaning to different people will almost always vary. To you it's noise but to me each note carries a meaning to the whole song. I do however see what you mean in that Maths and Music can be linked to create good Music.

That is either because you do not fully grasp the math, musical theory or both. Beauty in math and music are quite similar.

I'm not sure how Maths and Music can be linked in this sense as they are two separate fields. But, I think I can see what you're trying to say, which is that Music to a degree can be rationalised using something similar to a Maths equation. Eg: A simple piece of music can have a much better sound and quality than one that blasts out a lot of sound but not much Music to it. Where I don't agree is that you seem to imply that this rationalised method of thinking can only be applied to your view.

Music is partly math and can be deconstructed this way. It is true that tastes differ, but it's also true that there is good taste and bad. In math a beautyful equation is simple yet profound. An ugly one is obfuscated and arbitrary. Satriani's noise is the latter, making people who like it have questionable taste. It's like the most complicate way you could try to write 1+1=3

I don't agree with your view on his music, but respect it. To me, I pick up feeling in his playing, but to you it's clear you don't. Music is a large spectrum of opinion and taste; nothing will be to everyone's liking.

Voxnulla.....IN MY OPINION, you have gotten lost in all of your "expert" analysis and kinda missed the fun of Joe.....your are foolish to think that people will love your comments here. You can say that you don't like the song, or don't like his music at all, but to act like he is not a Mega Talent simply means that you are an idiot that can't even spell practise....practice.

The Snatch method to writing tunes : 1. Cannibalize any given genre 2. Reduce it to it's most generic form 3. Compile a set of recognizable cliché chord progressions but dumb it down a little and make sure its repetitive enough so it does not get in the way of the back-to-back solos' 4. fit as many meaningless notes in there as you possibly can 5. rinse and repeat. That is why all his music sounds like a kid randomly jamming to a practise track. Perhaps technically okay, but no taste.

I don't expect anything from somebody who things "blablabla" is a coherent and productive comment in any given situation. I think it's perfectly clear that I don't like him, the only difference between us, is that I also care to elaborate on that. Not allowing yourself to be critical is like voluntarily censoring your own opinions, which is rather sad and scary. Who am I to say..? Who are you to say he IS a good musician or that he HAS taste. Not an argument! Don't like opinions? don't read them

what?!? you want me to say you're right? are you joking? I like Satriani's music. most of it, I admite. I don't like some themes, some are too difficult to understand for me. but I'd never permit myself to make such a criticism like yours. Joe Satriani is an artist and one of the best musicians of our times. who are you to say that? no structure or context??? bullshit! no taste??? come on! just say: I don't like it. or better: shut up.

"blablabla......" No, blablabla would be something like "Raahh snatch is fucking gawd cause he moves his fingers so fast..". A clear sign if a tasteless shallow person. I think you'll find my comment to be objectively true.
