Out of Jimmy's MCA discs, the ones that were on ABC Records, I really don't think anything is different. I mean, they cleaned the songs up a little...noise..and turned up the sound, but really did not remix or do any sound engineering. Way it sounds.

@seastormvixen I lived in Charlotte for about a year...Beautiful town, but, couldn't handle the locals. Too far north, too far inland and too Bible Belt for an old Florida beach rat like myself. Seen Jimmy at 6 concerts from Hawaii opening for the Eagles to Mary Weather Post Pavillion in Virginia...good night, off night, it didn't matter...never been to a 'bad' Buffett show.

I think settled the case is more likely and paid royalties... I saw him "perform" this song circa 1986. He told the audience that he couldn't perform the song because of the lawsuit, but "...that doesn't mean you can't!..." and proceeded to do about half the song and left the payoff lines (My buddy-buddy bear, went into town to vote, like saspariall in the moonlight, so was that still, doing the bear dance, etc.) for the audience to sing out.

Awesome. "God's Own Drunk". He needs to play this live more often. I think he used to play it every night and then dropped it back in the early 80s due to a lawsuit.
