I just do not get Mr MacDonalds point. This rendition is pure, feeling, soul, and improv at its best.

in reference to Mr. MacDonalds statement, I don't think he was showing off, but you can take anyone from any generation at anytime on a TV show of any kind, and if they are playing guitar and have any type of skill set you will see them exhibiting it for whatever the style of that day is. When this was recorded, I can pretty much tell you that is what artists were doing. That was they style for this type of music, and people loved it. Your music choices for going out were pretty much disco, country, Burt Bacharach (sp?), disco, disco and country. You can gag now, but at the time all of it was great. And what Reed is doing here was totally acceptable for the time because that is what he was known for. If it was a Country TV show today and someone like Brad Paisley was to get on and just do a couple of little riffs instead of what he is known for, people would wonder what the heck he was doing. However, if he does what people expect for today's artists, he is good. So it is all a matter of what the era is producing, and what is popular. Reed did exactly what everyone was doing. With all of that said, I do respect your opinion on it not being your style.

It amazes me people who like Taylor Swift can berate true talent. Mr. MacDonald you need to continue to listen to your kind and not knock the masters that paved the way for the current trash called music.

Show offing. No soul here. Good technique. It's great but personally I don't like it. Just doesn't appeal to me. Just like I don't like mud wrestling but I love baseball. He should learn all the carefully crafted lyrics also. All that overplaying is tasteless. So I simply don't enjoy it.

It's amazing how Jerry can take a simple song like georgia on my mind and still find a way to put all those great guitar chops in it. But that's jerry for you. He could take any song he played to another level. He was the greatest!.
