I have this 1981 album. He had a top ten UK hit with 'The Winker's Song (Misprint)' that understandably got banned in 1978 and rode the last gasp of 'saucy postcard' humour which was a 70s hangover by '81 - would be deemed too prurient and probably 'demeaning' to women today; not necessarily a bad thing, though and inevitably times change. Still makes me laugh like a blocked drain whenever I hear it, mind you - great post! :)

I remember him doing The Winker's Song (misprint) and I've Parted (misprint). A mate had the album. If I remember rightly Esther Rantzen said she refused to work with him on That's Life when she found out about his music career!!!

First time I heard it was in the very early '80s ('81 or '82), on an Electric Blue video tape (anyone else here old enough to remember them?), so I'd have to concur with it very likely having been recorded in the late '70s.

You'd be surprised a lot of songs back then were risque and sex jokes were mainly double entendres

Definitely doesn't sound like it's from 60's or before, there's way too much clarity and fidelity of each part. Also, the iTunes linked on the video description says it was released in 2001 :)

When was this recorded? It sounds like an old song, like pre-Beetles, but those lyrics wouldn't fly back then.
