Still the one and only original Paul Robeson sung a little better, I say a little better because both voices are nearly identical so truly doesn't matter if you're black or white in terms of classical singning although I often have that still slight Jewish lisp or murmur when I sing operatically.

And this poor Black American sharecropper song is coming from a German singer guy who pretended to be a Russian, a stereotypical Russian because it was his trademark from probably the 1960's to probably the late 90's or early 2000's.

These Rebroff songs have a little relevance to the real Russian folklore. And for singer Paul Rippert it would be better to sing Opera. But you don't understand anything in Opera, you have nothing to talk about

may the man's soul rest in peace, i can see you have a dislike against russians, i said nothing foolish in my comment you ignorant , please resign and don't reply because i'm done talking trash with trash. RIP Paul Rippert aka Ivan Rebroff

fuck yourself you stupid boor. Rippert really began as opera singer but at soon moved to pseudo-russian repertoire suitable for emigrant restaurants. That's too sadly for opera fans

kiss my ass, he is a magnificent opera and he was influenced by russian folk but he is most famous for his works in France, so piss off, why do you even make such an ill and ridiculous claim.

Sure. Paul Rippert had a chance to become a great opera singer but he preferred to change his name to Ivan Rebroff and to sing quasi-russian "fakelore"

I could go and train to fill the room and hit A0 so could most of the men I'm about to list. that proves the superiority of men with a voice type similar to that of J.D. Sumner: London Parris G0, ,Mike Holcomb F0,Arnold Hyles D1, Richard Sterban E1/D1?, David Hester D1, Barry White D1 even me A -1` to your singers.their good and I like their singing but their range is weaker than any of the men I mentioned.and no one Knows how low J.D. Sumner Could Go But he hit a D0 with out even trying.

are you kidding me if that's the point then Ivan doesn't have one either I've never seen him with out a mic and I would rather have Sumner's voice any day. I'm a gospel bass my self and I'd rather hit that last key on the piano or an octave lower and use a mic to help my voice like I sometimes have to now on my good days then sing operatically even if they trained to sing like me or J.D. Sumner they still couldn't touch even me much less him however...

love Sumner, but Sumners voice are not a great opera voice and will not be heard without a microphone, most can burp into a microphone and it sounds like a lion, but still I also love Sumner

Personally that was one of my favorite songs by J.D. this is not Ivan best still a good song and very hard to understand do to his heavy accent but I do enjoy allot of his other work but leave it to ole J.D. on this one he was about an octave lower and easily understood by most even one of our German friends whose accent is about as thick as my voice is low .
