On this day in 1964 {Aug 29th} Irma Thomas performed "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)"* on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...Two months earlier on June 28th the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #82, four weeks later it would peak at #52 {for 2 weeks} and it spent 6 weeks on the Top 100...'Soul Queen of New Orleans' had three other Top 100 records, "Wish Someone Would Care" {#17 in 1964} , "Times Have Changed" {#98 in 1964}, and "He's My Guy" {#63 in 1965}...Ms. Thomas, born Irma Lee, will celebrate her 77th birthday this coming February 18th {2018}...* The B-side of "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is" was her covered version "Time Is On My Side", later in 1964 on November 29th the Rolling Stones' version of the song would peak at #6 {for 3 weeks}...
