Thanks for the kind words. You're right, and that's the problem with cover and tribute bands. If they want to play Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin, it's not enough to copy what's on the studio albums, as these bands were actually famous for their improvisation. Paicey's not a rehearsal type of guy, haha! But he offered us the chance to pick the songs we wanted, which we returned to him, so he finally said, "You pick three, and I pick three." Ain't that cool? And that's what we did. What a fun night!

that's true they always improvised. However, very uncommon for covers bands to improvise for the sake of playability and accuracy , as you know these songs are very challenging to cover and only true musicians venture into improvisation such yourselves..so now that you explained what happened and the fact the you didn't even rehearse with Ian...I take my hat off to you guys..nicely done!!

Now it's correct, cos that solo ending was meant to be like this. :) I've never heard the original LP version performed on stage by DP with that short 4-bar ending riff, they always went on to play a longer improvised bit there live until Paicey brought back the theme for the verse, and this is exactly what happens here. In fact, we didn't rehearse a minute with Ian, just went on stage and started to play, but luckily we thought of the same versions throughout the show, so it all worked out fine

not a mess up per say...just the timing at the end of the solo..it went a little longer..so lead guitarist turns around looking for Ian to go back into the verse..thats all. ....actually very common with Ritchie as he usually played even different solos in his songs and went longer before coming back around

Dude, you were watching another video... There was no mess-up anywhere.

love how lead guitarist messed up the timing on the end of the solo and immediately made eye contact with Ian to get back into the verse again....

I like this mother's one-handed drum roll.

That was THE lineup. Nothing else. Never be the same again.

We're all getting older lads! The "Real" Deep Purple was Balckmore, Paice, Gillan, Lord (RIP) and Glover! It will never be the same band until those lads get back together again?! Ian Paice is a rok'n roll'n hero. Best drummer ever in my opinion. I bought drums when I turned 50, thinking it would be a piece of piss to be as good as him. Fuck me, it's not easy at all!
