This a cover of Will Oldham's haunting song 'I see a darkness'. Oldham, also known as Bonny Prince BIlly, writes some stunning songs. Johnny Cash covered the song late in his life on his American III album.

I have gone more with the Cash interpretation as I love his style but Oldham also does a stunning rendering of the song. Both are on YouTube (hey, isn't everything).

Anyway I hope I have put my own stamp on it as I love this song.

The song is as recorded live with the exception of some vocal harmony added after the event.

Great job on this. It's amazing to me that more versions of this song don't exist, besides Cash and Oldham. Undoubtedly it's one of my all time favorites and probably the most influential lyrics I have ever heard. Anyone who has experienced some form of adversity in life can relate to what the song is about. Powerful, honest, and resonant.
