As much as I love Dinosaur Jr and think J. Macsis is one of the best living guitarists... he's a pretty terrible vocalist. Let's be real here. 0:20 to 0:30 alone, there are a few words where his voice threatens to cut out, he's singing so far in the back of his throat.

Grunge was actually a term coined by Mark Arm, singer of Mudhoney and Green River describing the Seattle music scene during the mid to late '80s, which of course exploded during 1990-93. If you haven't seen the movie Hype! I'd strongly recommend it. Good flick.

@afuckhead1 well I guess, you could say their stuff from Dinosaur, YLAOM and some songs from bug but, I don't think there is one song on Where you been that sounds like Hardcore punk.

@sethwalker11 they are not grunge, grunge is not a real genre. AIC, sound Garden are metal, Nirvana and Mud honey are punk, and Pearl Jam are straight up Hard Rock. The Screaming Trees are awesome though
