I actually kind of disagree with the general opinion. Even though I love JCM's version, I think this one is really good too. It's very theatrical and more styled for Broadway, while JCM was more rock oriented.

NPH simply rocks. Can't quite decide between his version of OoL or JCM's. BEYOND excited to go see Darren in 60 days now... He's my favorite person ever and he is ROCKING Hedwig.

I've listened to a couple of NPH's songs on this official recording, and I have to say - this is just mediocre work.There's just no emotional investment, whatsoever. He's basically one notch above the karaoke version - he's hitting all the notes correctly, and nothing else. Hell, I'd almost rather hear a karaoke version; it may be off-key, but maybe we'd get some passion, some drunk investment, someone who sings like they give a shit.

Good choice of actor to play the part, only Neil needs to connect a bit more with the song, particularly towards the end. I don't feel the emotion at the end like I do with Mitchell

I know many people aren't happy with Neil's performance, but I've listened to other Hedwig recordings and this one's the most flashy. It's got a lot of showmanship, which I like. For the same reason I bought the broadway recording of Matilda, rather than the West End version, It's a little more intense and you can picture it better, which is what, in my opinion, a good recording needs. Especially with music theatre

When I watched the movie I fell in love with it, especially this song was my favorite one from the movie, Neil is an amazing actor I love him in HIMYM, but now I want to see him on stage in this project, the version it's different but still great, Neil made an excellent work with the songs!!!

will they do a recording with Hall? i really liked him, especially on the slower songs like this one. not slow...but you know..like, he wasn't as sassy as Harris but in the more serious parts I enjoyed Hall more. Harris is super talented but you can't forget it's him.

flat and uninspired! i love nph and id see this easily because the original is my 6th fave movie-but the conviction is missing ive just now finished listening to the whole thing almost 2 times--the "guts" arent there..

JCM definitely is better but a valiant effort. I'm not crazy about the production. Some of the layers lack depth. Very tinny. The background voices definitely help him out. He absolutely articulates too much and lacks that richness and attitude of the original. Even the guitar has some issues but all in all, it's good. There's a certain growl he should try to develop. More Mick Jagger and Bowie, less Rent. This type of singing is one of the reasons I've never had a real connection to Broadway as I do with rock and pop music.
