I lost my dad two days ago. He took me to see Hank Williams, Jr. who had just released this album in 1979. It was my very forst concert of any kind. This was his favorite song from the album, which he purchased for me at the show and got Hank to sign for me.

"The Conversation" comes next on the Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound album. After this song ended, I was waiting for it to start. Some things are burned into the memory.

I bought this album (vinyl LP 33) in Summer 1979 when I was 10 years old. I've been a Hank fan for a long time, his albums of the late 70's & 80's never seem to go out of style.

Never has a song spoken so true about a genre of music continuously over time. I turned on country radio the other day, and I remembered why I am only 26 and grew up listening to classic country. The music today is total redneck crap or either something that sounded just like pop music.

Waylon Jennings n Johnny Cash also cut this.

This GREAT song is one of the very few songs that Hank Williams, Jr. has cut that he did not write. The song was written by Billy Earl McClelland, Rock Killough, and Ken Beal. - McClelland and Killough, like Hank Williams, Sr. and Hank Williams, Jr., are great ALABAMA natives!!!
