My favorite Hank Ballard song... and in stereo! This should illustrate why I think he was one of the top R&B artists of all time.

Here's an all-time GREAT singer and writer. Such a shame, that occasionally these folks get derailed from the respect they deserve! Hank Ballard wrote and recorded The Twist, yet Chubby Checker routinely took complete credit for it, years into the 60s.

I was fortunate to meet and talk with Hank in 1988. Hank Ballard is given credit for originating "The Twist" in my book "No wonder You're Fat You Don't Eat Enough".

Hank Ballard & The Midnighters had a unique sound that would just make you want to get up and dance. It's a shame that most times Hank is forgotten when music of this time is discussed. A real shame since he is responsible for creating one of the biggest dance craze in the history of Rock and Roll. I talk about the Twist many do not know Chubby Checker covered that song and not to take away anything from Chubby but American Bandstand at the time helped made it the monster hit it was. Now a days, whatever, oldies stations are still around rarely ever play Hank's music. Thank God for Norm. Nite from Sirius Xm Gold who frequently plays his music every weekend on his show from Rock n Roll hall of fame. I highly recommend Hanks 25 Golden track cd its just a great compilation filled with feel good music.
