Broken was played as the A side on radio Luxemburg when I was in the army in 71-72.

Different era than "Laughing". "Undun" was the flip side of "Laughing". Randy Bachman played on both. "Broken" was the flip side of "Albert Flasher", at which point Randy had already left the band and Kurt Winter was the lead guitarist. "Broken" was supposed to be the A side but for some reason radio stations started playing the B side ("Albert Flasher") and "Broken" never caught on. Therefore, the band decided to include it on "The Best of the Guess Who Vol.2", even though it was never a hit. True story, straight from Burton.

I had never heard "Broken" until I bought a triple CD set called "The Guess Who: The Ultimate Collection" a few years ago. On the first listen, this became my favorite GW cut and it still is. I have to stop everything else when I listen to it because the lyrics still pull emotions out of me...maybe even more so as I get older.

rosharris, I can tell by these comments that many people are very happy that you posted this. It is such a great Guess Who Song. Burton's vocals are very strong and so subtle in parts that it makes you appreciate how great this song really is. "it's true the deeper the drilin goes, shows how much the best of the better goes, that's why the bird with the bird with the broken wing never flew...." AWESOME.
