Oh, the glory of true loveIs a wild and precious thingIt don't grow on old magnoliasOr only blossom in the springNo, the glory of true loveIs it will last your whole life throughNever will go out of fashionAlways will look good on youYou can climb the highest mountainTouch the moon and stars aboveBut old faithful's just a fountainCompared to the glory of true loveLong before I met you, darlin'Lord, I thought I had it allI could have my lunch in LondonAnd my dinner in St. PaulI got some friends in AlbuquerqueWhere the governor calls me "Gov"You can give 'em all to goodwillFor the glory of true loveYou can climb the highest mountainTouch the moon and stars aboveBut old faithful's just a fountainCompared to the glory of true loveGlory, glory, glory, gloryYou can't never get enoughTime alone will tell the storyOf the glory of true loveGlory, glory, glory, gloryYou can't never get enoughTime alone will tell the storyOf the glory of true loveRead more: John Prine - Glory Of True Love Lyrics | MetroLyrics

There are "songwriters songwriters", and then there is John Prine. A step above.....in a class of his own.

Kris Kristofferson called him "God's favorite songwriter."John Prine once said "I can't write a song that's not a love song."

I am hooked on Mr. Prine for life. I have been sitting here for the last three hours being lifted up by his wonderful voice and soul searching words.

I love Fridays, I love John PrineI saw him at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte and he opened up with this little toe tapper."Oh the glory of true love is a wild and precious thingIt don't grow on old magnolias or only blossom in the springNo, the glory of true true love It will last your whole life through It never will go out of fashion, and always will look good on you"

Simple INDEED...!!!! I colaberated with J.P. on several songs but, my favorites (Of course its the ones I was involved in) has gotta' be 'My Big Fat Love', 'Last Train' and listen to 'I love you so much it hurts me' by John (Real old song.!) then YOU will see why they call me the 'Keypoundr'..!! (I always leave off the E in Keypoundr.) Only two people in the song. John and you guess who plays 'em keys..!!!

This song would also likely have been a wonderful duet by John and Steve Goodman, rest his Soul. John Prine is amongst the great songwriters! The Glory Of True Love, indeed!! :)

This man is up there with Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson for song quality & consistency. Being worthy of being called an American treasure. John Haitt isn't too far behind either. There are many great songwriters in America (Steve Earle) -- but this man is something special. The subjects he picks, the sincerity & humor he brings. Respected by virtually everyone in this game. "Angel from Montgomery," is one of these miracles. Just ask Bonnie Raitt.
