I remember seeing this movie when it first came out. Based on the timing (mid 90's) and the storyline, I'm pretty sure this movie was based on Garth Brooks and not in a good way. Anyone who was around during that time period will remember what an over the top show Garth liked to put on, complete with smashing guitars, pyro and a lot of gimmicky type of things that normally were associated with rock music. It was no secret he was a big Kiss fan growing up so that's where a lot of that come from. That said, the message that I took from the movie was that wasn't what country music was supposed to be about and that it should be taken back to basics as it was meant to be. I could be reading way too much into it. Just my perception of the the movie.
