@Bluesman9830 Wrong, it was written by Kokomo Arnold. Kokomo's version was recorded in 1934, two years before Robert Johnson even made his first recordings.

Milk Cow Blues was originally written by Robert Johnson. Kokomo & Bob just changed a few words.

Safe to say, George is a great singer and a fine practioner of the Western Swing tradition!

Robert Blanton

It was written by Kokomo. However, it was Bob Wills (who is both the Country Music and Rock and Roll halls of fame) who popularized it. Compare Strait's version with one of his and you will quickly hear the similarities.

It can also be found on this Chill of an Early Fall album, fyi. That is definitely one of my favorite albums, and this song has a lot to do with it.

ha! I'm glad to read a comment like this. It is definitely along the lines of what I was thinking when I made this almost 3 years ago. This song means a lot to me, I'm glad you've gained appreciation of it as well. Can't wait to read your book! ha :)
