Basic (as in open chourd and breathy) and beautiful, it excites and enlivens. What startles aren't the ingredieants (4:4, bridge-verse-chorous, repeat, ya-de-ya,) but the tenderness of the vocal. There's no cynicism here, it's a tender and delicate mood above the moment, we can all make the cake, but not all pop cake taste good... (I don't want) to hear the driving tune on a daily basis, but I like the long lean-in toward the end of the tune. It gets big, big in the bass-line, but so simple, acoustic and vocal - this is a musician's album. Power of love isn't yours, but I get why you gave it a go -fail-, but you lay the emotion of your own tunes where it matters, blissful, hurtful, damn my tears, a big up against the mic breath.It drives and has power, but doesn't get dry, long chourds that aren't dreary - but delight. No cynicism, but meant. I'm listening and crying to this over five years later, and it still moves. Benchmark. Now don't get cocky. Best retire now, the whole is quite distubingly good. kind of dylan good. x "Salvation" is a religious song, so you've kinda got most listeners sold already. Keep it basic, love-hate-family.BestMark

I recommend Gabrielle Aplin's blissful 2013 "English Rain" for an example of seemless, cynicism-free directness, that just frankly cuts the bullshit in pop music. The beat has to be there, - it is, the sentiment has to be real - it is, the energy and heartbreak has to be there - it is. It's more produced, but there's dynamic range, and tenderness in the vocal, at least as good as Dylan on a bad day. So tender, it hurts. Basically, just listen, and I mean listen... and it will repay your attention.
