Not bad. You got soul n spirit. But you need to spend much more time in the lab, perfecting the beats. The levels of the track you sampled are very low, unlike the drums which sound pasted over the top. Mixing is about clever layering; thick contours, lush textures, beefy bass lines, yeh? Also, the sound of the song does fit the vocals. This is about life n death; the struggles. So I'd get into it. Use some choirs, EP, High octaves n shit. Vocals are fine. ;) Some introspection there man.
