I agree, society believes all metal is screaming freaks, when it obviously isn't always. But the thing is, metal cant and will not stay restricted to metallica Sabbath sounding stuff, the whole idea of metal is 'extreme music' so it will continue to become more extreme. bands like After the Burial or Whitechapel are beyond talented and have become pioneers of the new and more extreme generation of metal. Just like any other genre of music, metal is evolving and wont always be the same.

its a sub genre of metal like hardcore or deathmetal or something. i hate when people refer to crap screamo stuff and death/black metal and call it "metal." it gives a bad name to the genre and people think the whole genre is about screaming freaks. i think of metal as being like sabbath and metallica and what not.
